Connections for daisy-chain configurations This processor controlled automatic mixer provides eight input channels and one master output in a 1-U 19" rack-mount case. The AS8 employs a unique and very effective Adaptive Proportional Gain algorithm (APG) to allocate gain among the system microphones. The microphones with the highest signal levels receive proportionally higher gain than inactive microphones. The level at each channel is compared to an overall reference level which is generated by the sum of all channels. Since the algorithm uses no gates, there is no need for manual adjustments. The microprocessor control also provides an "intelligence" that keeps track of which channel has been the loudest and in use the longest and allocates a "priority" toward it. The unique Skewing function attenuates signals with the same frequency spectrum in all channels except for the one where this signal is loudest. In addition, this function keeps non-speech sounds (coughs, bumps, clicks and pops) from affecting the automatic mixing functions. A "Voice Zoom" compressor/limiter is included in the algorithm to compensate for level differences between loud and soft talkers and/or variations in working distance. Maintaining uniform sound levels provides a significant improvement in sound quality. The AS 8 provides interfaces for analog remote control as well as remote control via a PC or RS-232 compatible systems. The AS8 is the basic version, the AS8TC provides additional, separate bass and treble controls for each channel.
